Opportunity Pipeline is a specific sequence of actions that a sales rep needs to take in order to move a prospect from a new lead to a customer. Once each stage is completed, the prospect is advanced to the next stage.

Opportunity Ranking focuses on the set of actions taken by sellers, a sales rank visually communicates the conversion rates of prospects through the pipeline stages.

As per my understanding of the question... In business world, specially in companies deals in projects as a business core, pipeline is a kind of a summary of all projects with it's status and some other information. Opportunities in the pipeline can have different status from 0% (tendering for example) to 100% (successfully installed or delivered). While the opportunity ranking depends on it's value and position between other opportunities in the same company. Hope this helps. Thank you.
