Hi friends I manage a real estate portal i.e. w.example.com and I want to rank for the term "mortgage calculator". Hence I wrote a good content piece on our blog w.example.com/blog (with a link back to my webpage w.example.com/mortgage-calculator.html) But my webpage is not ranking instead my blog page is ranking. Please help.

You should be happy and thank search engines for ranking your blog page at least on top of SERPs.
I advise not to tweak with present page rank of your blog, because it might disturb your blog rank as well. What you should do is, create a good impression about your main website and provide proper links to appropriate landing pages on your ranking blog page.

You need to re-check the SEO factors of your website. There must be something which is causing the blog post to score higher on the SEO scale than the page to which you linked within the blog post.
Another thing you can do is update the blog post with latest information and then add another link to website but for some other page.
