If you're a legal translator, how long do you need to be an expert in medical translation?

Well, you have to be pretty good in Legal terminologies first and familiar with Forensic Medicine terminologies as well, because most of specialized legal translations requirements  need  someone with a good command and knowledge   of legal framework like laws and stipulations, medical terms in criminal laws specially  and penal codes.

Medical translation is a specialty which is linked with the close understanding of the topic . Therefore it is easier for someone who had smth. to do with medicine to translate from the medical text than for someone who didnt. When you look at the technical terms in Medicine only, you need to know even more ( for eg. technical medical equipment and their parts ) apart from being acquainted with the system diseases, certain medical fields and the diseases. It needs time and knowledge.
