Voice tone, rythm and inflexions are all things to look for to elicit an uptime learning state among trainees. You also want the session to be a two way conversation because there's so much input someone can receive at once. If your training ressembles more to a lecture than a training, people will get tired fast. Ask open questions that sends their mind in the direction you want to go. No need for yes/no questions like "Do you understand?" Make sure your training goals are skill oriented rather than knowledge oriented and communicate those goals at the start of the training. Ex: "At the end of this training, you should be able to do xyz."
First, it has to be determined whether the training is essential to the trainee's role & responsibility in the organization. Secondly, the trainee should be aware and had fully understand the scope of the training and the benefits he may receive after fulfilling it. Thirdly, the training the employee will undergo should at least be in line with his own Individual Development Plan.

To create an environment by which employees are constantly sharing they there progress by establishing weekly group meetings. This is an effective way of ensuring that employees are constantly motivated.
