Get some full life cycle implementations done with both the java, abap stack, HANA, and the solution manager on several operating systems, example Linux, AIX, UX, Solaris and Windows. If you have the chance to work with DB2, MSSQL, SAP DB databases beside Oracle that would be a great plus for you.
I think on the functional side, the same applies. You should perform several full life cycle implementations with the SD, MM, PP, ECC, SCM, SRM, FI-CO, PI, BI, and HR modules. Mastering ABAP/4 and Adobe smart forms are great pluses.
