If it is a salaried position, then you pretty much have the floor to leverage what you'd like don't you?  Like, get a health club or fitness membership and clothing stipend if you have to dress a certain way.  Also, make sure you have paid vacation, some sort of health insurance compensation, relocation assistance, and a company credit card.  Real job type of stuff.  Super deluxe.

The best time to approach this topic is when your recruiter says we can or will offer you XYZ.  You need to ensure that your request isn't outrageous, meaning it is not too far above the advertised amount.  Set a figure and make a counter offer, also keep in mind that your employer may ask you why you think you should get a higher salary, so prepare some examples highlight the skills you have and how you can add value to the organisation.

Also, in case the employer do not accept your offer, try and negotiate a salary review in 6 months or a year; again think about all the positives about self and highlight when you are making a deal.

I will never recommend anyone to say to your recruiter that you have been offered a higher salary elsewhere, most employers do not likes to be pushed into salary or benefits increase.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.
