What are the different type of galleries in dams?

The gallery is a small passing in a dam for providing an access to the interior of the dam. There are kinds of them as Prof. Bakenaz A. Zeidan answered. Some of the purposes of those kinds are:1- Drain the water which percolates through the foundation.2- Use it to drill and grout of the foundations.3- Install various instruments in dam to study its structural behaviour.4- provide space for the mechanical and electrical equipments.
