What is the relation between "Mass Marketing" and "Advertising"?

Mass Mktg. is undifferentiated marketing which may seek Advt. as a tool.

Advt. is independent to Mass Mktg. It may focus on a particular product segment.  

In mass marketing, firm decides to ignore market segment differences and appeal the whole market with one offer or one strategy where as in advertising the communication is relayed from companies to persuade an audience to purchase their products !!!
