Some of the transferable skills which can be used in Customer Service are;

Multitasking, Communication Skills, Time Management, Problem Solving, Active Listening and the ability to Handle Pressure.

Other useful skill is to speak more than one language, English is always helpful.

In some companies Yes, it typically need a high school diploma, and the company will provide their own training program for new employee.
