In all depends on who hard woking a sales person is.  how much his willing to sacrisfice his health, family, time and degnity to get to his targets and more.  And sometimes even get positive results in short time just because of being over confident about his skills and image.

Best of luck.

If the product and services which your are selling requires educating the customers so the strategy should be to go for a an educated and inexperienced person.

If your product does not require educating the customers and there is a salesperson who is experienced and successful but is less educated then the strategy should be  to hire him.

It all depends on the market you are targeting, for eg. selling credit cards cannot be equated to selling a high end automobile or a computer software.

Depends on the kind of market, in choosing either of the two, one would still go for inexperienced but well educated person.

depends on product and market which is being targeted at , as direct sales and low cost products can be sold locally to B2C by a person who doesnt have much education but if its a premium B2B sales then a professiional with good education like graduation or MBA is needed.

Hi

As student of sales and marketing I have read all the answer and according to me nobody has focus on product knowledge or presentation .any person how is experienced or non experienced doesn’t have proper home work he can’t beat other key players in the market who running for the same one penny .if a sales man dosnt proper prepare himself for any situation in the market he can’t hunt down his target and achieve success in the execution of his sales or marketing plan.so my answer is anybody in sales should first  work independently even if your management diving or instructing you they always have boundaries but as sales man you don’t have boundaries you have always an open field to prove your selve.

In long term case, i would go for an educated person no matter with low experience. In short term case, would prefer to go for experienced hand.

Experience helps you in sharpening your skills and education gives one the edge to grasp the things quickly. For sales and marketing product knowledge is very important and it can only come if one is educated and has his fundamentals strong. To give answers to customers queries one should have full  knowledge of the product.

I beleive person who can apply his theortical knowledge in practical manner is a good sales person.
