Do you plan ahead and set goals, and are these in sync with the company’s goals? Also do you intend to move out soon or stick around? The interviewer also tries to measure how well you understand what they want, whether your idea of growth is compatible with the company's growth path, etc.

I always beleive to achieve long term objective one has to have short term goals which can help one to achieve his long term goals. One has to climb the ladder no matter what it depends upon person capability, skills and experience
It depends how you have planned your strategy to achieve your long term goal that the interview is trying to know so one has to be practical in his approach.
