Performance management (PM) includes activities which ensure that goals are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner. Performance management can focus on the performance of an organization, a department, employee, or even the processes to build a product or service, as well as many other areas.

Managing the performance of employees is a continuous process. It involves making sure that employee performances contributes to both team goals and those of the business as a whole. The aim is to continuously improve the performance of individuals and that of the organisation.

  • o   By me, managing my strengths and building on my weakness. I will learn my capabilities in areas excelled by other leader(s).  When I am on the floor, I will need to see what strategy was followed in order to excel in the way they did.  One never compares themselves to other leaders but on the contrary to learn from them (leaders) and put into practice the methods tested.  You can only learn when you do something and it is right it is a success.

o   If I am not aware of something then I will ask the relevant questions to learn the facts that summarise the difficulties.   

  • o   Gaining the confidence and trust of the members of a team is important to complete any task with efficiency.  Sharing knowledge with the team shows them your empathy and building the team effort helps them realise company goals.
  • o   Act and Track should be continuous throughout the year. Reviews may take place at any point in the year and planning may take place a number of times during the year and be re-visited, as the needs of the business change.
  • o   These regular performance discussions are typically developmental and future-focused. They provide an opportunity to explore what has gone well and how success can be replicated again, any challenges being faced and how they may be overcome and agree actions that both the individual and manager need to take to develop the individual and further improve their performance.
  • o   Appreciating the team and my efforts within the team plays a role on our performance.
