Open ended means that you have to think deeply to find the answer. Example: How do you feel about slavery? Closed ended means that the answer is easy to answer and you don't need knowledge to answer it. Example: How old are you? When is your birthday?

Closed question:

It calls for a short answer whose content is predictable, precise

Answer : by yes or no

Examples:

Do you want...?

Are you ...?

Have you got...?

Do you live ...?

Will you go to the meeting?

Open question:

It is an exploratory question. It aims to make the other talk

It starts with: who, what, where, when, how, why?

It provokes an unpredictable answer both in its length and in its content
