No, not in my workplace, however I often see females favored over males, due to the view that women are not offered the opportunity - but it is more the other way around these days  I feel sometimes.

Companies with male dominance in management tend to employ power and autocracy

while companies with female dominance in management tend to employ creativity and democracy.

This is due to the fact that males have higher activity of the left half of the brain while females have higher activity of the right half of the brain.

Power and autocracy are needed in emergencies and in cases of low availability of information while creativity, finding solutions and facing competition are the hallmarks of stable times.

The ideal formula is to combine male advantages to female advantages to maximise gains.

So, does gender play a role in deciding workplace success? The answer is definitely yes

When I worked in Malaysia I never really felt my gender played any role in my success.

I might have found that being a single mother, brought out the fangs of other female counterparts to use as leverage to argue for opportunities that they would fit better.  Men in general had no view other than my results.

In Dubai on the other hand, it seems the men get feathers ruffled when I come in do my work and be successful, they have to find something to pin as failure.  In one instance a Sr Mgr when interviewing me said I have to plan for failure if we hire you.

The fact that in Malaysia I led large remote teams of men and women successfully meant nothing as he saw working with direct report men, I would fail miserably - I think I showed him quite well that would not be the case.  My team of men might have been suspect of my abilities, but quickly they found that if they worked hard, I worked harder to see we all kept our jobs.

It's how people are brought up to respect women in the workplace.  If you're taught from young girls will amount to nothing, that's how you will always view them.

Everyone is created equal. It only varies on the skill level. Gender should never be an issue as long as the person's skill set is matched to the job.
