How would you consider your ability to move up in your professional career level?

I have over six years of work experience. In addition to a year and half as an accountant I, working in the post-award finance. My main focus, is to manage the funds in the accounts, processing payments to vendors, receiving payments, processing travel requests and reimbursements, and many more. Now, there is a job opening in the same company i work for, but in a different department that needs a post-award contracts and grants specialist with experience. I feel that i qualify for this job, but on the other hand, i still feel that i need some more training and experience to achieve my goals and move up strong. Even though, i have absorbed% of the years experienced trainer in this year and half! What would you do if you were in my situation? Would you apply and see what the interviewers have to say, or just stay where you are until you feel more ready? Thank you.
