You can easily maintain plants in the deserts. First step is selection of plants which can tolerate drought conditions or can make there survival possible in very less amount of water.  You can establish an irrigation system like drip irrigation system in which very less amount of water loss is noted. for maintenance daily or weekly logging should be conducted so that need of plants can be fulfilled.

Ph of land is, inter alia directly linked with soil texture and how many soil parts is clay, sand or organic nutrients. As the desert land is mostly composed of sand, Ph is seldom acidic and varies from6.8-8 regarding these facts. This rule could be taken with caution, because if water for irrigation is acidic or full with limestone, soil will be too.

Never the less, every soil Ph can be  changed with fertilizers with add of sulfur for lowering Ph, or limestone for rising.

As we mentioned at a previous answer that the main needs for plants are soil, water and air. The soil must be rich with nutrition elements. And the dessert soil is poor of these elements. So we can change soil and this must be at green houses in order to control the temperature also, or we can grow plants that may tolerate bad conditions.
