Now-a-days, why it is more beneficial to do inbound sales rather than outbound? And do you think that cold calling is dead for real?

These days customers have become too smart. Now they don't want to hear what you offer, rather they look for the solution to their problems. Creating pull in the market is now more relevant and workable than going for push strategy. I need your opinion on it. I'd be happy if somebody disagrees with me with a reason.

Apparently you enjoy disagreement; here it comes (being a call center professional):

I am sorry but inbound sales is an easy job to do, you get an interested customer over the phone and your whole job is to pass the cooked info or taking an order. That's how it seems more beneficial – per you.

To me, life of the call center industry is out bound sales and, BTW cold calling cannot go dead until and unless call center industry gets buried.

Which do you think is convenient for a customer - he searches through the whole world and looks for a suitable place of his choice to find a phone number and dials a call to fight with IVR first and faces a (sleepy - waiting for a call) agent then - or, if someone calls him at a suitable time for what is he looking for? The outbound campaigns are run on the basis of providing doorstep services to the targeted customers as what they are searching for.

It all depends how do you think as, this is what our industry is all about.

Now coming to the outside business world, I still disagree: :)

You have already decided inbound as more beneficial though it all depends on the nature and choice of the business, the requirements as well as nature and capabilities of the entrepreneur, the owner.  The thing required is the outcome therefore, if outbound works, why do you want to be dogmatic my friend!

Cheers, pal.

I can't disagree with your statement. At the end, whether you target B2B or B2C deals, inbound & warm calls get you to the real customer needs & driving demands. Outbound & cold calls are far less effective than social media, qualified sales leads & word of mouth.

It depends you are prospecting which country. Forinstance it is illegal to make cold calls in UK. However, you can still make cold calls in United states from offshore location but results are not favourable. I would like to admit with my own experience that there is no benefit to make cold calls. The reason mostly companies running sales department have already moved to startegy where they are preferred to contact prospect by sending messages via emails, social media so that cold calling is turned to warm calls. In making calls using this approach prospects do not feel bad and they are happy to provide neutral response rather than negative feed back.
