Body Language for any employee not just a laeder is very crucial part of office behaviour. if anyleader is confident and has a team to lead he should not be louzy or very dull body language. his attitude should be positive and his way of talking and his personality should be attractive. attractive in the sense that it should create a positive mark on others. like we like to see good and clean surroundings similarly the personality of a leader should be appealing as this will leave an impression of confidence amongst other colleagues as well.

An open and assertive stance shows confidence and authority: straight posture, arms relaxed, eye contact, standing/sitting calmly and still, paying attention to the one speaking or meeting everyones eyes when you are speaking, Standing firm and reading the signs of the other persons preferences of personal space.

A closed posture gives the impression of being unsure and/or bored. It might be be percieved as arrogant and distance taking:

Slunted posture, arms folded, not giving eye contact - looking around or down, not looking directly at the ones you talk to, fidgeting/can't sit or stand still, keeps too much distance between you and another person (visibly backing away when some one approaches) or gives too little personal space - not taking the other persons discomfort in to account.

To know how to use your body in symbiose with your voice to for example enhance a point or highlight a statement or to disarm an aggressive situation/redirect and constructively handle a emotionally difficult situation needs a lot of fine tuning and your ability to read and adapt yourself to every individual person you meet and interact with.

Body language is a key means of communication and is often overlooked. It is controlled by your subconscious mind and thus, it can sometimes be clear when there is a difference in what you are saying, and what you are thinking. Positve body gestures: such as, walking/standing upright, a firm handshake and steady eye contact can often have a huge impact on how your words are interpretted and what people will think of you. Similarly, negative body gestures, will have the opposite effect; for example, crossing your arms or avoiding eye contact.

Overall, it is incredibly important to be aware of your body language in a professional environment.
