I have found, through thousands of hours of training, that the following are key competencies for a good trainer:

- Be clear about the expected outcome of the training.

- Be clear about your way of training.

- Have a clear understanding of the basic personality modes, know how to spot them and be clear about how they interact.

- Send out a simple pre-training questionnaire to be answered and reviewed at the training.

- Allow for unexpected options and input.

- Think useful outcome.

- Use more than 80% interactivity.

- Steer towards insights.

- Wake up in the morning wondering what amazing events will occur during the training session.

- Always use an end of training feed back session and make a short, down to the point report with suggestions for development.

- Love what you do.
