A denture would "expire" if they ceased to perform their intended function properly. If a denture has cracked, changed color, texture, or fractures of any kind, this would render them unfit to be used as dental prostheses. In addition, if a denture becomes ill-fitted due to resorbtion of the underlying residual ridge, and cannot be corrected by tissue conditioners or soft liners for any reason, then it is good practice to regard them as expired or non-functioning.

All dentures, prothesis should provide esthetic and function. What we can see if prothesis expires? If it is removable denture or complete denture, the dentures teeth are darken, with cracks and chipped. Patient can't chew, teeth cusps are wear. There is no tight contacts between antagonists. The denture has mobility, and weak fixation. If it's fixed prosthesis, also we can see the loss of aesthetics, inflammation of the gums. There is no precision fit of crowns. Patient complains of jam cooking, halitosis and difficulty chewing.
