Hi, i have a question concerning translations , can we translate a piece of writing without going back to the writer's background?

I don't think there's a need for that. If he or she writes a post, book etc, then that writer must bear the responsibility of what his or her audience understood. The translators must only aim for a perfect translation of what is written.

However, I once had to go back to the writer and that was when those who wrote contracts etc were not very good at using English in writing; they misused some words and didn't adhere to grammar.

If you have more questions, please ask me and I will tell you what I think.
