Is it fair to ask a question then the very person who has asked it doesn't follow up on people's responses?

I find it interesting when someone asks a question and we respond, then we get appraisal and vote up from other people and you don't see the writer's acknowledgement anywhere in the debate. Is this how we conduct our business really?
