Does industrial and manufacturing engineering have a role in industry?

yes. It is where the application is started.

Actually yes, because the modern industries to be success must applied many orders which related with the modern technology and these basics must be studied and applied with special team and those called ( Applied industrial technology students).

No, Industrial engineering refers to process optimization, rather manufacturing engineering facilitates the production optimization. 

yes of-course. these two departments are the pillars of an industry. because industrial gives the method and planning  to manufacture an object. and then work of manufacturing department starts to make a required object.

Manufacturing engineer role is bit risky when the operations and site leader ship is the direct benefit stake holder. They mostly keep manufacturing engineer away from work as his works my highlight there weaknesses so they are thrown away of involved in minor projects. But the real scope is high as he is the right hand of management in aligning process and productivity.

Yes very much so because most products and machinery for industrial use are produced in the manufacturing process, not to mentioned other benefits of value addition and employment.
