Should you choose to pursue a career in Human Resources, a professional qualification in HR will prove to be an advantage.
A certification is HR is a testimony to the fact that you understand the basic principles and functions of Human Resources.
Hence nowadays many employers ask for a relevant professional qualification.
Competition is rampant in every field, be it HR or any other profession; and your professional qualification may set you apart from other candidates.
I would also like to point out that many professionals join the HR field without any relevant qualification and later on in their career equip themselves with an HR qualification to cement their knowledge in the field.

Whilst a certificate is certainly not a necessity to become a successful HR professional or any other successful skilled professional, it does have certain advantages.
For one, the training required to achieve the cerfication equips you with additional and indepth knowledge which may not always be readily available on the workplace.
Additionally certification shows that the induvidual has taken the time to get educated on this specific skill set and this in turn sets him apart as a serious contender for the position.
Many people continue to develop themselves professionally by updating their knowledge and skills throughout their career and this is often a good way of being current and appearing competitive in the job market.
At the end of day neither certifications nor experience can be an accurate measure of competence, it's on the job performance that counts.
I have found the most advantage in obtaining a professional qualification after gaining the necessary experience, as then all that of that knowledge has a basis, and application is more relatable.
My additional education then becomes useful on all counts.

Having a HR certification while managing the HR of an organisation can be beneficial, however, it is not compulsary. It is more important to first understand the perception of the organisation towards the HR department.
