How will zero margin societies impact our economies in general?

If this is with reference to Jeremy Rifkin's book, i gather that, according to the author,  zero margin societies will lead to large scale re-organization in the way economies function. specifically, the capitalist model based on profit making is predicted to give way to a more collaborative model where marginal costs are close to zero, thanks in large part to the global sharing of information and resources via the 'internet of things'.
