About me it is risk to bring the artist, from artist perspective speaking: most of customers have no art language speaking terms and understanding. they can say bad words about design and they are not able to critic right way. i prefer marketing person will handle all changes and back to artist with constructable brief of feedback.

If you are a person that is making a deal with customer, it means that you are sort of a sales manager, ceo, or similar. Therefore, you as a decision maker or offer maker, already should know most of the work that your subordinates are able to provide. Bringing an artist/graphic designer to a first meeting with customer is not a good idea because, you as a sales person or decision maker are loosing on your importance and integrity. The first meeting with the customer, you should be able to provide basic knowledge on what you as a company can provide, meaning on product, time, money. When you gather the requirements by a customer, then you share it with your subordinates in your company, including the designer if he is to be part of it. Then your designer need to provide several solutions and present it to you, before second meeting with the customer, You are then to select adequate solution according to the needs of the customer, you previously gathered, and organize the second meeting. At this point it is your choice to bring the designer or not.

Asalam Ahmed,

Speaking from personal experience, there were many occasions that I, as a designer would assist in matters to the design decisions, that might have been costly otherwise. You have to sit-down and Listen to the demands of the client and what you could offer based on your expertise within the time frame given. So in short, Yes it certainly helps after all it's team effort?

In ideal world, your communication with Client is absolutely MUST, Before any practical productions. Most companies outline the structure of signing the project at Key levels saving from headaches down the road.

From my point of view, I REALLY Enjoy the phase of meeting the client and learning their business needs and then demystifying the process further. It helps to be Better Business designer...

I hope that helps.
