What is the difference between human needs and human wants?

The term used by the economist, Needs are fundamental for human survival purpose, but wants are seen as a human desire to get something additional. Wants are unlimitted.

A need is something you should have, you can't do without it ..... Water, Food.

A want is something that you would like to have but not something that you can't live without ..... Ipod, Gucci bag.

God has provided for everymans need but its mans greed that is destroying the world.

Let me give an example. Human beings need water to survive. Now if we do not waste water we will have enough for everyone. But the cola jiants and alcohol multinationals deplete so much ground water that the water table goes down in certain areas leading to water scarcity.

Human needs = important requirements for survival.

Human wants = luxuries in life, vanities and things you can live without.

Need is something that is necessary for the survival of a person. 

Want is something that a person desires, either immediately or in the future.

Needs are the things that keep you alive. Wants are the things that make your life better.

The first is necessity the second is wishful thinking!!!!!!

I think the answer differ from person to other and from place to other as well , accroding to the needs which satsifiy the persons needs and can't be live without them , But wants its somethings we can live without them.

Needs are basic and necessary while wants are selfish and are things we can do without in life.

I would say, needs are basic to all humans even in a job there are basic job specifications that everybody should fulfill, however what you want are extra support which enable individuals to be talent and crative in order to achieve there best.

The differences between human wants and needs are sometimes are hard to see the difference. A need is food, water and shelter. A want is luxuries and standards.
