Can terms such as 'Benchmark Indicators' and 'Key Performance Indicators' be used in conjunction? Any scenario / examples to state their essence?

We often come across terms such as 'Benchmark Indicators' and 'Key Performance Indicators', while crafting and designing strategy for a business unit or the Organization as a whole. Can these be looked at in conjunction? What would be your take on these?
