I would Like to Long term Contract

I thoroughly AGREE. With some big exceptions (like working on a project with an absolute end), contract work often leads to a regular position, if you impress your employers. Its as if, instead of having a couple interviews, you have a solid year to prove that you're invaluable. You should obviously work your tail off, because in the worst case scenario, you want to show how awesome you are and earn glowing recommendations.

Even if you don't land that position, you can usually apply internally for other positions.

And of course, do not stop looking for work. Contracts don't mean that you are obligated to stay for the whole year. You don't want to burn bridges, but if you find something at the6 month mark, you can negotiate with both companies and maybe even secure your current position with some gentle pressure. In my experience, people understand that contracts are a little stressful and won't begrudge you looking for other work if you are very professional about it.

There is no such thing "long term" we as people involved in the construction industry are working per project as you will find no owner is really investing in people as long as there are projects "or future projects" you are safe otherwise you will receive a nice letter apologizing that due to the current situation we have to take this hard decision.....
and you know the rest.
therefore some how we all on assignment base contract.
at the end it depends on the economy.

From employee point of view both would be good.
But.
It is always depends on the job and tasks.
For example if the task is to restructure processes and organization then the short term contract is not really fit to this.
Probably you can finish this project but your time won't be enough to see all the results of your work.
That means you can't make the final conclusions what you did well and where you still need to refine your methods or which direction you should improve your skills.
From employer point of view the length of any contract is always very sensitive.
Many things influence this decision and it is very specific for the company, its profile and the given situation that demands an addition temporary employment commitment.
We should not forget that these contracts are requires "only" temporary commitments too from the employees.

It depends; I prefer a short term contracts in a part time woek.
And long term contracts in full time work.

I’m looking for long term contract.

Both are good.
You just need to evaluate the job opportunity, company reputation and the salary package well before you sign a long term contact.
You need to be sure of what this position can add to your experience and career progress.

Long term would be much preferred in this current economic climate.
It can already take a long time to find employment, to then have to worry about a contract ending quickly and having to go through the process again is a scary thought.
The longer the contract the better.

long term contract will be good

long term because you can put much more effort into the company and duties /performance.
Short term not good because then you don't put all your energy, talents, experience and more into the job.
Long term it can also be negative because then you get so use to the standards, quality and more that you get hooked on consistency and later on will not perform the way it should be.
I think a good term will be around5 years.

Both are good, depends on future plans and progression.
