Does emotional intelligence affect negotiation or is it irrelevant?

Emotions are affecting the decision making, creativity and building relationships, these three are key factors to reach a win-win agreement, therefore emotions can be implemented to understand what the other negotiation parties are emotionally experiencing and how it affects their way of thinking. By this understanding you can maneuver to achieve better outcomes. On your side, you can tune your emotions ups and downs according to any situation or purpose.

Yes, EQ affects entirely customer negotiations since you have to show them that you understand them. Without the proper Emotional intellegence, you will not be able to connect to your client and will not get his sympathy. In negotiations, you have make them feel that you are one of them, that you understand them with proper professionalism and respect. You have to imply that you are a part of them. But of course, your emotional intelligence also dictates you to where you should stand for.
