If I convince a party to make a shift in its approach to the issue & at the same time we respect each others limitations ,the  negotiation process becomes successful.

If I have 10 things to achieve in a negotiation session and I achieve more than 70% then this is success.  If everybody goes happy then it is success.

A successful outcome in negotiation can only be measured by the on going relationship between the parties. Meaning if you havent protected the relationship and your negotiations have resulted in its breakdown, your negotiations have been unsuccessful regardless of the result. If you have concluded the negotiations and the relationship in in tacted then it has been successful. The art of negotiations is that there are no rules, like a good jazz session you need to know what and how to do things so that everyone accepts the outcome is appropriate.

Negotiation Success means “bargaining (give and take) process between two or more parties (each with its own aims, needs, and viewpoints) seeking to discover a common ground and reach an agreement to settle a matter of mutual concern or resolve a conflict,” negotiating is a skill set which few of us can achieve.

Negotiating successfully. Negotiation is a process where two or more parties with different needs and goals discuss an issue to find a mutually acceptable solution.

Negotiation of meaning is a process that speakers go through to reach a clear understanding of each other.

Following the stages in negotiation, they are six of them and they are

  1. Preparation
  2. Discussion
  3. Clarification of goals
  4. Negotiate towards a Win-Win outcome
  5. Agreement
  6. Implementation of a course of action

Achieving your goals and aims in the negotiation is successful negotiation.  Covering 80 to 85 percent of the negotiation and feeling happy is a success factor.
