What is the difference between metering ct and protection ct?

protection CT is designed to carry the fault current which is much greater than rated current its designed much below than the knee point 

metering CT is designed at the knee point beuase its just to carry the rated current

There is difference in the complete characteristic of the Insulation material as well as in the Conductor core which is connected with primary circuit of Switchgear.
