Define verbal noun?

A noun which is formed from or else corresponding to a verb.

Various languages have different types of verbal noun and different ways of forming and using them. In English an example of a verbal noun is the word building  in the sentence "It was a lovely building” (this is a noun formed from the verb "To build")
