What is Outplacement Counseling and to what extent will this help a terminated employee?

Outplacement counseling is a service offered to help outgoing employees find a new job.  It involves hiring a specialist who will provide personal coaching to help the terminated employee come to terms with the shock of losing their job and to move quickly and positively to the point where they are able to take on a new role.
