You should be able to maintain a good relationship with your boss on the first hand. But by doing sincere and dedicated work, showing quality in work with better results would make a priced asset or valued resource to the organization.

Nothing is permanent in the corporate world. Your good relationship with the boss might change one day when the boss gets disappointed by your work! 

So concentrate on work. Do justice to your profession.

Not always. Though a good relation with the boss is always desirable ur psition in the co which includes ur chances of promotion would deped on ur performance rating. Ur boss has litle effect on that rating as it is quantitative. it depends on ur positin in the bell shaped stack curve.
