Understanding customer behaviour is of paramount importance to sales because it is only when one truly understands customers' needs that one is able to address them in their products. It is only by addressing these needs that sales is generated. The communication too should be aligned to customer behaviour so that the ciustomer finds resonance in the brand presonality of the said brand. Hence understanding consumer behaviour becomes all the more important if a brand is to succedd and sales are to be generated.

A sales person who understands the consumer behavior can properly address the need of the potential customer - based on the feedback given (either through direct/indirect interaction and body language). 

 

Understanding consumer behavior can also result in saving of resources/time as sales people can readily tailor the solutions to the needs and requirements of the potential customer (without having to do extra analysis/research, etc.).
