Personlly I have always prefered that. So my answer would be yes. On the other hand, it also depends on the hiring position, because good attitude is of no use when we talk about nuclear physics.

First let Us take the meaning of ATTITUDE… there are a lot of meaning pertaining to the word attitude;

1)     From business dictionary its A predisposition or a tendency to respond positively or negatively towards a certain idea, objectperson, or situation. Attitude influences an individual's choice of action, and responses to challenges, incentives, and rewards (together called stimuli).

Four major components of attitude are (1) Affective: emotions or feelings. (2) Cognitive: belief or opinions held consciously. (3) Conative: inclination for action. (4) Evaluative: positive or negative response to stimuli.

2)     Technical Knowledge is base on what you have learned and what you where thought from the university or from your work experience.(this is what I have gathered so far to describe it)

Technical knowledge can  be acquired in due time and its up to the superior/supervisor and co-worker to help their employee(unless of course you are not the type of employee that don’t want to share your knowledge or a boss that doesn’t care about the welfare of your people), many people are graduate of different discipline but when you ask them about their work and description you will be amaze to hear that their doing multi task which is too far or not related to their degree. We as human being we are the perfect computer/chips/hardware/software(whatever you like to call )because we can accumulate data as many as we want to process in our brain. But for ATTITUDE  it comprises of everything, not only work ethics,how a person perceive his/her job, his contribution to his/her company, his/her decision making. And how he will cope up with the stress of his work. Attitude can go a long long way and THE WORD ATTITUDE CAME FROM LATIN WORD APTITUDO MEANING “FIT”.  If you have a great ATTITUDE you will have a great career because you are fit to do a job that entrusted to you.

It is very important to hire employees with positive attitude provided if the true meaning of the ATTITUDE is known and understood well.

I wonder how an employee CAN show a positive attitude towards the job content without the required knowledge.

I also wonder how an employee with the required knowledge CAN show positive attitude when surrounded by negative environment such as presence of communication gap, mistrust, etc.

It is very easy to blame and get rid of anyone just by saying that the attitude is negative. Believe me it is the most difficult task to correct the ingredients to ensue that ATTITUDE remains positive.

THEREFORE IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE CORRECT MEANING OF ATTITUDE and WHY ATTITUDE VARIES.

One would think that a person with good technical knowledge would automatically have  a reasonable amount of intelligence, attitude however is a different kettle of fish.

My answer is YES technical knowledge can be learn overnight. Having a A good attititude is something that you will not be able to learn by book or over night

It is always better to have workers with the right attitude, but are you prepared to sacrifice professional technical knowledge for "adequate"? If the job is such that adequate intelligence will suffice then go for the person with a good attitude. Should the job require a higher degree of technical knowledge then in the interests of the job and the Company you have to take the better qualified even if it means that you have to work harder to keep them focused. At the end of the day the "job" is the most important consideration!!

technical knowledge can be taught if the candidate is promising and has the ability to learn. It is hard to change the attitude of the employee and his/her attitude can effect the work environment easily. In opinion choose he good attitude with an ability to learn than good knowledge with bad attitude.

I prefer workers with good attitudes and adequate intelligence, so my answer will be yes

My answer it will be depend on the job needs. Yet, good attitudes and adequate intelligence is a basic requirement that all the employee must have, as it could not be learned or adapted and it came naturally from our self.

good attitudes will bring dynamic work place and positive enviroment whereas adequate intelligence is the abilty of the human to learn easily and quick to adapt about new things.

however it will depends of the job needs, such as for vocational job is required the people with technical knowlegde and mostly for those skilled / worker line
