1) English is the main language that is used because it's the world's universal language, the same way French used to be the global language before. Yet, the ICAO approves the ATC to use any other language that the ICAO approves which Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French and Russian.

2) That it's to set a global standard to avoid the confusions.

Because English is now becoming a widely accepted and global language. Translating from any language to English is even easier than translating from one language to another e.g. translating from Italian to English may be easier than translating from Italian to Russian.

Also, most companies require that employees speak English as it enhances professionalism and decreases the likelihood of a misunderstanding. It is also becoming a necessity for companies to keep up with the changes in their Industry worldwide and also to be on par with nations/countries that are grabbing a large market share and being able to speak English e.g. countries like China.

If there is one language in the world that everybody speaks/understands, it will be much easier to communicate across the global divide.

English language is an international language for comunicate each other.

GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is a standard time that is taken from0 degrees latitude  GMT is used for all Air Traffic Timings (ETA's, ETD's, position reports etc) to avoid any confusion with all the world's different time zones

becouse they can not be diffent in time and well understand becouse every county have their own time and almost we defer in 3 hours

Communication between ATC and Pilot is important factor responsibe for safe and orderely movement of aircrafts in the world, and to acheive this they need to understand each other. As per ICAO English is the universal language for all pilots, atc, etc. who wish to operate in any international aviation work place so that they can coordinate with each other.

ATC and pilot need to have a common reference point for their navigation purpose, one of which is time. That why they need a common time which is Greenwich mean time (GMT) which is same in all part of the world

Apart from time there are other technical reference point such as particular NDB, VOR, other geographical locations. But both of them needs to know what are they comparing with.

To prevent as far as possible, misunderstandings between pilots and controllers.  Also for situational awareness of pilots of the air traffic around them.  Everyone using the same language and the same time system helps to maintain same standards worldwide and works towards better and safer aviation.

Everyone up here almost makes the valid point; yes it's the global standard that is followed but I am here to answer 'why'. It's because English is the  easiest mode of language to connect and calibrate  in today's era and all the countries of the world have at least some understanding of this language.  So to deal up the sensitive and critical communications up there in the sky, they need everyone to come on one page and align with the common standards. And same applies to the GMT (Zulu Time) in aviation terms, that keeps one single datum/ reference point for the time calculations when transitioning through different time zones of the world. Take them as language and time standards, the English and GMT Zulu respectively. Everyone cannot have his own rule book when it's about crossing each other territories ;)

You may use other languages or local language but the English is international language written in the books studied by pilots or air controllers.

For avoid missunderstanding. One Time-One lenguageю

Standardisation and Safety. It would be completely impractical for Air Traffic Controllers to speak the language of every nationality of aircraft that came into their airfield or air space. Similarly Pilots couldn't be expected to speak the language of every country that they flew to, therefore a "common" language was agreed and that was and is English.

GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is a standard time that is taken from0 degrees latitude (the town of Greenwich near London gives it it's  name). GMT is used for all Air Traffic Timings (ETA's, ETD's, position reports etc) to avoid any confusion with all the world's different time zones eg When an aircraft reports to a country's Air Traffic Control Centre that it is entering that country's air space, Centre will know that the time given is GMT and not local time.

Passengers checking their flight itineraries will be given departure and arrivals times shown as the local time in the country where they depart and the country where they arrive. This is simply because the want to know what the "actual" time is when they leave and when they arrive. there are obviously no flight safety implications.
