Simply use a planner or diary to note down your activities throughout the day in order to monitor where your time is going. At the end of the week, set aside some time to review your schedule.

  1. Know what is important

  2. Prioritize and make "To Do" lists

  3. Schedule your biggest project for your peak energy period

  4. Be realistic and stay flexible

  5. Schedule time for you

Time is a very important factor in ones life. It changes everything. During the period of life a young man turns old and he has to achieve what he wants  within his short life span and even shorter productive life span.

On a day to day  work you have to know your  priorities . You have to do the most important things and some times you have to break the schedule if there is work that has to be done on an urgent basis.

And you have to take time off to learn new skills so that u do not become obsolete in the job market.

When I entered the job market DBASE III + was the data base management system. Then started the concept of RDBMS windows access and Oracle. Then  came SAP and now it is Cloud service based tools like sales force. If I am stubborn and do not heed to the needs of time I will be obsolete and unemployable even in my productive life span.

I agree with Divyesh Patel. As the popular quote says "You can't improve what you can't measure". And for measuring you need to take note of what you are doing in the time you have.

To add on to Divyesh's view, when you review you will have lots of insights on some of the things like

a) What tasks can be delegated

b) What tasks are unnecessary and avoidable

c) What tasks can be expedited etc.

d) How long you are taking to finish the tasks

e) Can you do it in faster / smarter

We human beings are good in doing routine things. Even when we learn new things, we try to make it routine. When we master those things (read as making routine), we do it faster.

Such insights along with continuous periodical review (may be weekly or at specific intervals as suitable for the individuals) help and manage our time in a better way.

I have personally made such attempts in my life and reaped the benefits.

As they "Time is Money" - So, let's manage it better.

Time is valuable only if spent on activities of prime importance , so best thing you can do is list all activities you want to schedule for the day. Give rank based on prority /importance 

  • must have 
  • crucial needed but not ranked 
  • may have if time permits (not ranked or important , can be delayed )

Schedule prime time available in full to must have (urgent work ), next crucially needed, then for may have  activities 

Time schedule should be realistic and  achievable , with all allowances, other wise liable to fail so ..

Time management is stepping stone for success in any field..
