Why do you want to know my salary?

If each grad has a salary range, why some recruiters insist to know your salary? and would you tell them?

Well, this question is usually asked in the initial interview, and it is to see if the company can afford the candidate or not (not to waste anybody's time). Because if they call the candidate to the interview and he/she fits and then the company offers them, but the offer is very low, that would have wasted alot of people's time.

I always inform them my current salary. It always make the recruiters only call me with serious offers.
