What are some software that facilities engineer can use for design?

Autodesk's Inventor is good for mechanical installation design.  Should do everything in3D and you can produce2D drawing easily by projecting desired views.

 

But if you want to simulate the process, then you may try to look up for AVEVA or ETAP for electrical. I have never tried them myself.
