Hi Heni,

I am guessing that you meant to ask "The difference between active harmonic filters and passive harmonic filters ".

The main difference between active and passive filters is that passive filters are composed of resisitors, capacitors and inductors which all consume power when a current passes through them. Moreover passive filters donot require any external power source for operation.

In case of active filters, active filters are composed of operational amplifiers, transistors and other active components that require external power source to operate. And unlike passive filters, active filters donot use any inductors. Moreover as there is external power supply required, the output signal of the active filter has a signal gain element while passive filters donot offer any kind of singal gain.

Lastly passive filters are cheap to make as compared to active filters.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards
