I believe a quality team leader should be consistent with rewards , recognition as well as disciplinary action even if he is forced to show favors?

Yes, I agree a successful leader should use the right stick for right people. One shall not use a common business or reward strategy for all.

Reward and recognition for outstanding performers and disciplinary actions for non or below average performers.
