The most significant factor, that the manager controls, is his or her relationship with each employee. Empowering employees is the ongoing process of providing the tools, training, resources, encouragement and motivation your workers need to perform at the optimum level.

human by nature have the characteristic to be better than the other. That is, humans consciously or unconsciously are always competing with one other. So, the best and simple way of motivating employees is to recognise / appreciate them in front of other employees. This will motivate them to do even better and it will also motivate the others to put in their best.

According to my experience as customer service officer, if for example you have 3employees under your supervision, locate each employee specific duties/ responsibilities equally. Then tie perfomance to each employee.

If for example the customer service department is gifted because of exceeding target on a duty, try your best to tie the good perfomance to the staff you allocated the duty to so that he gets recognition and praise from the rest of the staff. By doing this, each employee will do his/ her best in the duties assigned because if they perfom they are recognized by the whole company.

You may as the supervisor, arrange like a monthly meeting with senior manager to appreciate any employee by recognition or even gifts if and when they perform under their duties and responsibilities assigned and make it known to other employees. The non perfoming staff will feel embarrassed and in the next meeting 100percent they will try to improve to avoid being blacklisted as a non performer.
