I am SAP ERP User. From my experience i believe that

"ERP is a process of an Organisation To Control all the activity in various functions like Documentation, Reporting, Followup, Approval Etc & SAP is a software package designed to implement ERP concept in an organisation."

There are vast differences in open ERP and SAP ERP. - Basic difference is its cost, open ERP is cheaper any easy to implement than SAP ERP. - SAP ERP is mainly preferred by big enterprises and firms as due to its cost and maintenance.- In open ERP customization process is easy as per your business processes.

ERP is for Enterprise Resource Planning. ERP software is a suite of business applications such as accounting, sales or payroll. The key difference between theERP version of these applications and the stand alone versions is integration. ...SAP is one of the worldâ??s largest software vendors of ERP systems.

Today SAP’s target market is TNC, and they provide their solutions for these type of companies in the best way. In this area of interest SAP is not the only one provider, but yet, it has high brand awareness and loyalty of customers. Implementation of SAP costs a fortune, but those who have chosen to implement this ERP, in most of the cases, know what they are doing and why it is needed. As I have mentioned before, markets are overcrowded with ERP’s, and every business from small to big, can find at least one software solution of the shelf that fits all of the specific requirements for its business needs. Most of ERP providers target small and middle companies, while large enterprises prefer services out of the average tag.

So, the SAP is an ERP, but more complex and much more expensive solution, and that is the main difference between SAP and other ERP providers

Open ERP, Now Odoo, is based on Open-source technology where millions of developers contribute to build a robust industry-grade, feature-rich system that fulfills variety of requirements. SAP ERP is proprietary system which has  limited scope of customization and is made for standard industrial requirements.

There is vast scope of support available for ODOO and they are very much upgraded as per the latest trends.

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is a concept and SAP is a Business Software package designed to integrate all areas of a business, completely based on ERP Concept.

The first difference between OpenERP v/s SAP is Open source v/s ProprietaryThat does not means OpenERP is FREE, only the code base is open source! you still pay for using it

SAP  - SAP is not available freely which means you need to pay huge amount for implementation again here there is licensing fee as per the number of user increase Another comparison of OpenERP v/s SAP is that OpenERP can be easily customized as per your business requirement as the code is available and with the help of OpenERP Expert you can develop the module with low cost whereas in SAP - they offer best of industry modules which means you need to change your business workflow so to run SAP modules as per their choice

SAP has quick implementation times, but it is more expensive than most of its competitors. Besides it needs customization with expensive third party solutions. SAP developer should have deep understanding in SAP structure, and not only.

The first difference between OpenERP v/s SAP is

Open source v/s Proprietary

That means OpenERP is available free of cost and can be implemented without any hassles - OpenERP consist of variety of modules that can be used for different organizations for eg - there is education module available for institutes, service management for service industries and so on . . . .

SAP  - SAP is not available freely which means you need to pay huge amount for implementation again here there is licensing fee as per the number of user increase

Another comparison of OpenERP v/s SAP is that OpenERP can be easily customized as per your business requirement as the code is available and with the help of OpenERP Expert you can develop the module with low cost whereas in SAP - they offer best of industry modules which means you need to change your business workflow so to run SAP modules as per their choice

Further - OpenERP is targetted to different business including SME's and Big organizations whereas SAP have different versions such as B1, R3 which is implemented as per the size of the business

I hope to resolve the queries - there are many other difference between SAP and OpenERP - but if you are new into business then you must initiate with OpenERP to actually check how your organization performs with Enterprise Resoruce planning software rather going with SAP and paying huge costs.

Same concept, different programming and privacy.

SAP is more expensive than the open one.

All kinds of ERP's are giving support to you, and all can give you the same result, this according to the consultant that you have for your business inside the partner company for the ERP.

The first difference between OpenERP v/s SAP is Open source v/s ProprietaryThat does not means OpenERP is FREE, only the code base is open source! you still pay for using it and for support. SAP based on the company size can vary from 10-30$ for cloud solutions to a few millions based on the size of your company.

You can’t say that this or that one is better, while you have to choose the technology according to your project needs and requirements. As soon as you have them clearly put together, you can choose the one you want.

I hope to resolve the queries - there are many other difference between SAP and OpenERP - but if you are new into business then you must initiate with OpenERP to actually check how your organization performs with Enterprise Resoruce planning software rather going with SAP and paying huge costs.
