Many years ago, I came across a biography of Mohandas Ghandi and it really got me thinking about a myriad of subjects: politics, econimocs, social inequalities, and the ways we must reconcile them if we are to survive and thrive in the world. It also inspired me to take a good long look at the world I live in and to travel as much as I could to better understand it.  There is so much valid philosophy bound up in his life and words, that I am sure (if I could find the book again) that there would be much more in it that I hadn't seen or perhaps understood the first time I read it.
