Project is a success and budget has been respected. Do you think it is acceptable enough for the project manager?

according to my little experience i think that is enough besides a very good team

sucess mean that the project met the sucess criteria defined for the project. whatever the criteria is!

if the project is sucess with respected budged it should be acceptable for the PM.

Three factors determine a project success time, quality and budget.

It forms part of the success rate for the PM.

However - one has to weigh other components such as team performance, did the project lose team members, were critical paths met etc.  What is the overall opinion of the stakeholders on project delivery.  In some cases - it paints a different picture.

The underlining aim of a project is to achieve it's objectives as per scope, on time, and on budget. It would be recommended though to record some of the lessons learnt and giving credit to the people participating, have some KPIs regarding project specifics, and key issues faced and their solution.

With all due respect, the question seems to be incomplete. However, here are few observatoins that i am sharing regarding the question

• Who declared the Project successful? Sponser, Project Manager,Project Director or PMO
• If the project was completed within the approved budget, it indicates the success of the project to some extent but not fully successful, as the success of the project lies in "within approved budget, within approved time,according to approved scope and meeting the objectives"

Depends on the project and if the project manager wishes to evaluate the outcome in terms of social responsability. This could taken into consideration when exploring natural resources like wood, mining, oil etc. Other aspects could also be taken in consideration such as, in the case of industrial prodution since in many countries workers don't have quality conditions to operate.

As project managers I'm not in touch directly with such matters but I don't agree that one can perform as a project manager without caring about social responsability.

If the project's success is realized by the stakeholders, then I think that will be aceptable enough for the project manager.

I believe that project's success should not be the call of the project team unless indicators for that success is identified before hand and are monitored by the stakeholders
