it’s helpful to actually speak with them. Women may have different reactions to things than men do and you don’t know what until you ask. Don’t make assumptions about what a woman would feel or experience. That’s a highway to the danger zone in terms of stereotypes and tropes.
The only thing a male writer should keep in mind when writing a female character is reaction about what he is going to write and another thing he can keep in mind is the sweet words he can use to make the females feel interested about what he wrote
Writer is a mirror bearer of society whether woman or man he has to write things which influence the society. A writer can change the condition of the character through their writting.
My female character is a woman of substance and compassion.

Man knows the emotions of female by experience and their emotions with directly dealing with them be it his wife and other family members. As writers are used to read lot of novels written by many writers including females one can have ideas about how female mind works and their attitude.
My advice is that you should never assume what you think a woman may feel in emotion or how you think they may act and react to scenarios based on the amount your stereotype. It will result in a chauvinistic interpretation of the opposite sex which will not bode well with others.
Speak to women, learn, ask women how they would react or think about scenarios you create, sometimes it even helps to base your character on someone you already know and shadow them. Study them.
It's all in research, without research our imagination is limited to our own experiences and we as men have zero experience in being a female.
Literature, be it English or any language as been a gendered ground, mostly patraiarchal. The canons of literature were framed by men, so creating a character also follows these gender biased rules. So so-called male writer should not have any preconceived notions about women. he should do a though ground work and interact with real women, not of aristocracy but normal 'lay-women' so that he captures the real gist of a 'real woman'.
A male writer should keep in mind to be respectful when writing about a female character. In an old fashion way a male should be a gentleman when dealing with females and still is being encourage in the modern times. Females play a big role in the society which should be given much importance as the role which males play. They are considered as the weaker ones but many times proven wrong by females who strived hard to make a name in the society. On the other hand, male or female we are made equally by God. Therefore, respect should always be there when dealing with one another.
