Do you think it is necessary to receive a formal film making education in order to become a great filmmaker?

I think people are different. Some people will benefit from going to film school, which is great for them, but on the other hand, others learn more and better from actually making their own films. A great example is Mr. Quetin Tarantino, who never received any formal training in film making, but yet, went on to become one of the most successful and wellknown film makers out there. Tarantino learned his craft by making his own films and by watching and studying other's. 

I do not think it is necessary for all aspirinig film makers to go to film school. That said, anybody who wants to be a successful film maker, needs to be passionate, and learn, in one way or another, and never stop learning.
