Direct circulation (Also known as normal circulation) is to pump drilling fluids into the drill string or tubing and get return from the annulus.

 

Reverse Circulation is to pump drilling fluids into the annulus and get return from the drill string or the tubing.

 PUMP THROUGH DRIL PIPE IS DIRECT CIRCULATION.                                              PUMP TROUGH ANNULUS  IS REVERSE CIRCULATION
